Job Interview
The fifteen-storey building of Lauchengco Architecture & Designs International stood before my eyes, astounding me with its world-class & professional beauty.
I took in a huge gulp of air, relaxing every muscle in my whole system before entering the magnificent company I've always been dreaming of working at.
The guard dressed in white and blue opened the door and greeted me, showing off a polite smile. I ushered my way to the poised-looking lady behind the front desk, asking her where the conference room is. She gave me the directions & wished me luck. Weird? Yeah.
LADI is known to be hiring only the best - from architects to interior designers down to the staffs. That's the main reason why people are just dying to work here.
I reached the ninth floor, pretending I pretty much know where I'm heading to. Sixth room in the left wing, I recalled. I walked down the short corridor and was shocked to see the numbers of applicants waiting in line, making this two-position vacancy look like a summer job fair for fresh graduates.
This is the line for the job interview right? I asked the tensed lady in front of me. She nodded then stared at the ground. Again.
My mind wandered - as I patiently waited for my turn - to things like what will I do if I get the job (or not), how will I spend my first salary as a LADI employee (or not) and such. So many other HOW's filled my mind, til that most important question entered my thoughts: How does Mr. Lauchengco's son look like? Will he be as cute as Jenny thought him to be? WAAAH. I felt giddy with the idea of working with my gorgeous boss every single day.
Ms. Margarette Sans? A guy in his late 30's said, issuing from the room. The lady four seats in front of me stood up, flipped her hair & fixed her mini. The sound of her fuckmeheels pissed me off. The lady before me is as tensed as ever, clutching her folder tight, like it will tear itself up any moment now.
Nervous? I asked stupidly. `Course she's nervous Madz! But I had to ask and make her feel relaxed if I don't want her to collapse right here.
Yyeah. Mmore than yyou can ever think of. She stuttered. It's my first time to get interviewed by any company I passed my resumé to. Fresh grad.
Oh, congrats then. I smiled. You shouldn't be nervous. We'll get the two positions, I tell you. I joked, hoping that I spoke the angel's tongue. She smiled at my encouragement & flattery.
I'm Meredith. She held out her hand.
Madz. I took her ice cold hand & shook it with mine.
Did you know it's Mr. Lauchengco's son who's doing the interview himself?
Oh, really. Great. My heart skipped a beat when my mind flashed that imagined face of the famous LADI heir in flesh.
Few minutes after, the brunette named Margarette emerged from the room, smiling like she won a hundred-million jackpot prize as she walked down the corridor. Oh wait, did she just land a job?
One left, applicants. The same guy said, ensuing murmurs and exasperated sighs & groans from the pool of people.
Names were called including Meredith's, but just like the many hopefuls who came in and out of the room, she wore a straight face when she exited. She gave me a parting goodluck smile before leaving.
Ms. Mary Adelene Dizon?
Madz. I blurted out of nowhere.
Yeah. Madz?? The guy said, confused. I almost stabbed myself for that, good thing he just smiled at me. Kill me now.
I breathed deeply as the guy held the door for me. I was welcomed by the long glass table with black leather seats surrounding it. A lean guy, with his hands placed on his back, was facing the windows on the farthest side of the room. Even from this distance, his well-built manly frame can clearly be seen. He's wearing a white polo; his black blazer hanging over the back of his chair.
The other guy ushered me to the nearest seat next to the boss and pulled it for me to sit on. He then retreated while my eyes stayed lock with my boss' back. As if sensing my stare, he turned around & caught me looking at him. Oh great!
G-good a-afternoon. I stuttered as I pulled myself up and plastered a smile on my face.
Darn! Did Meredith cast a stuttering spell on me before she left??
Sir. I added, more stupidly.
He ran his eyes from my face to my shoes... appreciatively? Yeah I guess, cuz he smiled after doing so. Or maybe he was just trying to be polite so I wouldn't think that he thinks I'm weird for stuttering like that.
Good afternoon to you, too. He smiled (and I swear I felt my knees trembled when he SMILED like that) then gestured me to have a seat as he took his own. He studied my resumé when I handed it to him then started throwing me questions. Good thing I was succesful on breaking Meredith's stuttering spell on me and was able to answer his queries without breaking a sweat.
I didn't know if I was just imagining things or he really was staring, no, studying me like the way he did with my resumé! Not that I mind cuz it's creeping me out or whatever. But honestly, I liked the way he batted his eyelashes at me; smirking & grinning & smiling like that. He's incredibly hot. His tousled hair, chinky eyes, perfect nose, and puffy lips are
just so immaculate! I couldn't stop adoring his beautiful face. He certainly could pass as a runway model. Ohmy, I'm such a perv now!
Just then, I realized that Jenny's a real psychic.
Mr. Lauchengco's son is the cutest thing ever. ^-^
