XIV. Family Matters
I don't get it why you have to do that. Kevin said while driving.
Do what? I asked.
All those bullying, offending and mean things that you enjoy with your friends. I just can't understand why you have to humiliate people like that. Here we go again. He really never fails to preach me about my wrong doings and how bad it is to do such things with other people. I mean hello?! I'm just having fun! Can he not just mind his own business? You know that I'm concerned about you that's why I'm always telling you this. Yeah right whatever. He always go boyfriend-slash-father-like whenever he learns about my new bullying act.
Just like a while ago, the six of us - me, Kevin, Kat & Lia together with their `partners` which looked like a triple date to others, but I know better - ate together at a fancy resto when we saw Kat's ex, having the best time of his life with some low-life fugly slut. I was bored so I got up from my seat with glass in hand and walked towards their direction. Lia was beside me to help me carry out my plan. We were acting like giggling teenage girls who spotted someone cute, occasionally pushing each other lightly as I ACCIDENTALLY spilled the content of my glass to the lovers. Of course they were shocked, but what can we do? It's an ACCIDENT.
Are we having this conversation again, Kevin? I snapped. He glanced at me then kept his mouth shut.
Kevin's a cool & nice guy, a gentleman as what I've said before. But I certainly know that things NEVER work out between me and the cool, nice, honest, charming guys. Because at the end of the day, they tend to transform me to someone that everyone adores - the sweet little lady without heavy make ups and skimpy outfits. Or worse, they just want to save me from myself. Oh please, I srsly don't need any rescuing.
Bye Kevin. I told him when he pulled into a stop in front of our house. I was about to open my door when he reached for my hand.
Look, I'm sorry about nagging. I just want to-
Cut it out Kevz. I'm tired.
Okay. But lemme get your door. He stepped out of his car then opened the passenger door for me. Goodnight Jas. He kissed me on the cheek.
Yeah right. Bye. I said coldly, as our maid opened the gate for me. I did not turn to look at him, for I know that this is the parting stage of whatever we have.
Jasmine. Where've you been? Dad said, raising from the couch.
Out. Not even giving a second to look at him, I headed towards the stairs.
You're not going anywhere young lady. We have to talk. He stated authoritatively, so I faced him with a grim expression.
About your new business trip I suppose? Like you'll be gone for God knows how long, send me money, tell me to behave and everything else to keep your conscience clean that you're not neglecting your ONLY child and you're doing it for her own sake? I get it Dad.
Hija.. Mom said, restraining me from saying anything more.
You actually don't have to tell me you two are leaving for this and that trip. You always leave me here, so what's new right? I'm tired. I've to sleep. Night.
That's not what I wanted to talk about. It's about what you did to Yza during your exams. Oh great heavens! Now they're updated with my school activities huh? Did that Kevin just rot me out to my parents? I can't believe you did that to your own fr--
I didn't do anything to her. End of story. If you don't want to believe me, fine! I'm used to the fact that you don't believe in me at all. Nor listen to whatever I had to say. With that, I walked my way up to my room. I heard them calling me but the hell I care. I'm tired of all the nagging.
So you're wondering what happened to that little act two weeks ago?
I actually thought I got the better end of the stick cuz Yza was sent out of the room and her Pre-Cal exam was nullified. But in the end, she was given a different exam since she's running for honors and the officials wanted to be considerate to her ranking. Well atleast she did not tell anyone about the `sorry` note I wrote, and she got herself into four weeks of detention.
And another thing, James got even more furious at me. I always see him glaring at my direction, but I just smile at him sweetly in return. Prolly `his girl` told him the real score, but as noble and kind and understanding that she is, I bet she asked him to just keep his mouth shut about the issue. Talk about LOVE. Eek.
I laid my head on the pillow when I suddenly remembered that I had to end something with someone.
Done. I texted him. A few seconds after, he replied.
Yeah. I felt it. With the way you said `bye` hours ago, it seemed like there was a big dot spelled right in front of me.
You know what? You really are a smart guy. You know how to read between the lines. I replied.
Thanks. But I guess being smart is not enough to make you stay :(
Cut the crap out. It's not healthy to mope. I'm off to bed. BYE. I shut my phone off.
