The THIRD Story [24]

XXIV. Practice

You can't be serious.
Lia said incredulously, shaking her head mechanically.

I'm afraid I am. I shrugged then opened my locker.

But Jas, we all saw how horrible she was during auditions! She shrieked, raising her hands as if to surrender but her tone suggested otherwise.

J, Lia is right. Remember you even schemed on embarrassing her in front of everyone. Which succeeded big time, BTW. Kat interjected, resting a hand on her waist. I almost snorted at the reminder.

Did I even say I forgot that? I glanced them both a look of nonchalance then turned my attention back to my overflowing locker. Gosh. This pile of letters and flowers needs to go to the dumpster.

Then why are you suddenly saying that we need her in the team? Because the last time I checked, Yza just doesn't fit! From the mirror hanged on my locker door, I saw her crossing her arms. Kat had the same explain-yourself-bitch look on her face.

I closed my locker then turned to look at them who are both waiting for the reveal. Because we need her. Trust me.

What?! She scowled.

Humor us, J.

Just trust me on this one, okay? I really hate begging to them to agree with me. This is just not right.

We trust you okay? But this is just.. Kat stopped midsentence, seeming utterly lost for words. Whatever. She finished, putting her aviators back.

Even if we agree to let her in, you very much know that we have the exact number of members already! Boo Lia. Why do you always have to be such a bitch?

Then someone has to sit out.

Someone like who?

Someone like you. I said instinctively. Right. You can just sit out Lia. That would be much better.

You can't do that!

Of course I can! I'm the captain, remember? The next few seconds was a battle of deadly glares between Lia and me. Those gray cat eyes were full of fury in them, but I know better than to break away and let her win.

Snap out of it! Kat hissed, but no one moved an inch. That's not the best way to settle things. She reasoned out, but Lia just chuckled.

Do whatever you want, Queen Bee. Lia said, giving extra emphasis on the last two words. She threw me another sharp look before storming off. Kat shook her head in disbelief, her gorgeous locks swaying before following Lia to who knows where.

From the corner of my eye, I saw the person who badly needs to see the confrontation I pulled off. I smiled inwardly as I started down the stairs.

Practice Hall. I waited impatiently for my squad to arrive, looking deadly at everyone who enters the hall with bowed head and sorry mumbles.

You girls are late! How irresponsible can you all get?! Division meet is already here and we're basically just counting the days before the competition. This is no time to slack off bitches! I said, pacing back and forth in front of my team. I was giving each and everyone a serious look when Kat arrived in her fitted EH jogging pants, putting her sports bag with a loud thud on the floor.

Oops. Sorry. She cooed, but I know she's not really sorry. I rolled my eyes.

Headcount bitches! I ordered them as I motioned Kat forward, moving a few steps away from the girls.

Where the hell is Lia? I asked through clenched teeth.

Why even bother? Didn't you just tell her to sit out? She fired back.

I know right! But I didn't tell her not to attend practices!

Now that's stupid, J. You told her to sit out but you also want her here. Kat was obviously annoyed with what I said. Isn't that a bit contradicting, Queen-

22. Sorry I'm late. Kat and I instinctively looked at the person who spoke, her eyes not fixing to a single thing.

Here comes the bitch that you chose over your friend. Kat snorted as she scrutinized Yza.

Murmurs started as they stared her down, making her feel
more uneasy than she already is. I had to stop myself from laughing with all the things I'm hearing right now.

Okay stop the drama now and focus your eyes over here. I said then in an instant, they were all eyes and all ears to me again. You see we have an addition here, Yza, even if we dumped her on the first day of auditions. I sneered. But that's all forgotten now, right Yza? I turned to her with a fake smile on my face. She nodded her head in a nervous agreement. So I just hope you'd all forget about that too and welcome her in. Right Kat? I said, tapping her lightly.

Yeah right. Kat answered, flipping her hair.

So, are we all set now? I beamed like a hyperactive child. They all nodded and I was all smiles.

I have to call Lia. You take over here, okay? I whispered to her ear then patted her back, moving over my bag. I fished my phone and dialled Lia's number. It took her four rings before finally taking the call.

What do you want?!

Meet me outside the practice hall now. I know you have questions and this is the time for the answers. I said all of that in a rush.

And don't snap at me like that again, bitch! I said, sliding my phone shut.
