It's the time of the year. Lia smiled widely after seeing the announcement posted on the bulletin board. She turned around at us, giving us a knowing look.
I think I know that look L. Kat hinted, tucking her gorgeous locks behind her ear. You're one excited girl.
Of course Kat. Who wouldn't be? It's time for some booty shaking. She chuckled at her own words.
Booty shaking. Surely. I said, starting to walk back to our room with the two following closely behind. This just means we have to deal with tons of wannabes again. You know. Those trying hard cheerleaders, and the like.
But you know that this would also mean having to spend practice nights with the jocks. Kat stated, as a matter of factly.
Meaning, more quality time with James. The two giggled like forever.
I know right? And that's the only thing that motivates me to keep going as the squad's captain.
Wednesday came and everyone is busy for the try-outs for this year's sports fest. Our PE teacher, Ms. Lucile, required us to have atleast one sport activity to take part on.
The try-outs for the basketball team and the cheering squad will be held at the Gym while the other sports will be at the school quadrangle and soccer field. Being the captain for two years now, I am in-charge of the audition together with my ever-loyal friends Kat and Lia. Together, we choose those who have potentials and were able to pass the qualifications.
Line up guys! James shouted from the other side of the gym. Well yes, he's the captain of the basketball team so he's also in-charge of the try-outs, together with his coach. I smiled to myself when I saw him wearing his favorite black jersey - the one we bought together a few months back.
Is everyone here already? I asked my own squad as I study each and one of them. As much for my expectations, tons of wannabes are in front of me again. Some are in short shorts that make them look too flirty for an audition. While the others are in shaggy jogging pants. Or PJs? HAHA.
Since it seems like everyone's here already we'll start off with the audition. I told them, walking from one point to another. Kat and Lia will be teaching you the steps while I will be looking out on who picks the steps easily. Goodluck. I smiled then went to sit on the bleachers.
Wait! Wait up! A figure emerged from the entrance of the gym and ran towards us. Lia and Kat looked at me when they realized who it was. Surprised, I got on my feet and studied her with incredulous eyes.
I-i-i'm sorry. I'm late. She stuttered, her eyes fixed on the floor.
What is she doing here? Lia mumbled right next to me. Not knowing what to say, I just shrugged my shoulders.
Okay now. Just find your place somewhere in the line. Being the more unconcerned party, Kat instructed her what to do.
Kat and Lia started teaching them the steps while I was sitting and watching them kick off their legs and throw their hands in the air. I also constantly check up on the other side of the gym, exchanging smiles with some random guys. Lol. Nah. JK. I was actually looking out for James who is now sweating profusely but still making him look hot.
I used to think that it was cool.
Kesha's song played and everyone started to dance with the beat. I can see that these `hopefuls` still need to improve on so many things. I can only shake my head in pure disappointment.
STOP! I shouted, rising to my feet. The music abruptly ended as swaying bodies became motionless. Is this really an audition for the pep squad? I folded my arms in front of me, eyeing each and everyone of them. You were all just swaying back and forth and I can't even make sense of what you're all doing. Can you please atleast fix this, when I get back? I looked at Kat and motioned to both of them that I'd be back minutes after. I started to walk out of the gym as I heard Lia yelling at them.
I saw James waved at me when I passed by them. He was holding a basketball in one hand, and he looked hot despite the dripping sweat from his forehead. I was no longer in the mood to actually flirt with him so I just settled with a nod and a half-smile at him, then gestured that I would just be out for a while.
I went to the almost empty cafeteria and ordered myself some iced tea.
I settled in one of the chairs near the glass window and unconsciously watched the soccer guys kick the balls up in the air. There was also the baseball team practicing their strikes, running here and there. I sipped my tea but almost spat it out when a random a guy got hit with the soccer ball, making him fall on the grass.
HAHA. Stupid. I blurted out, chuckling.
I studied him as another soccer guy helped him up and gave him his eyeglasses. My eyes zoomed in to that loser and I couldn't believe who I just saw.
Ryan the nerd loser?! I shrieked inside my head. What the hell is he doing in there?!! Don't tell me he's actually trying out for...
the soccer team?! Oh goodness! Epic fail!
